Any help is welcome when trying to reverse a fatty liver and some help could come from drinking tea. This article will introduce some of the best teas that are said to help reverse fatty liver faster and heal the liver itself.
The best teas for the liver are those that include milk thistle, dandelion root, burdock root and/or licorice. Other herbal teas might also be used in the mix, but it’s usually the ones I’ve listed that are considered to help the most when it comes to reversing a fatty liver.
Before checking out these teas, I have to say one important thing. No tea should be considered medicine for curing a fatty liver, nor should you consider that it is enough to drink any of the teas below to reverse your condition.
They might help a bit (or a lot), but the most important role in you getting your health back on track will be making the necessary lifestlye changes. Those include eating healthier foods, doing more exercise and minimizing stress in your life (for instance by meditating).
Without further ado, let’s check out the best teas to help the liver heal faster!

1. NUTRALIVER – Liver Detox Tea
This tea is an all-natural tea made from plants that are considered to help the liver heal and detox: Milk Thistle (30%), Liquorice (30%), Peppermint (15%), Turmeric (10%) and Fennel.
Milk Thistle has been used for many years as a natural way of supporting the health of your liver. It contains silymarin which helps protect healthy cells within the body while also destroying damaged ones.
The other ingredients are also considered by naturists helpful in detoxing the liver, while the peppermint gives the tea a pleasant taste, as well help help cleanse your system and soothe any stomach discomfort you might be experiencing.
I really like the taste of the tea – is very mild and minty and I can easily drink it without adding any sweeteners. If you really must add sweetener to it, only add a bit of natural Stevia or 1/4 teaspoons honey. But most likely, you will be able to find it extremely enjoyable without adding sweeteners – I sure do!

2. Teatox Life – Liver Detox Tea
This tea is made of all organic and natural ingredients which are known to support liver health. The ingredients in this tea help cleanse and detox the liver, while promoting healthy digestion.
The tea contains dandelion root, milk thistle, burdock root and ginger root. These herbs have been used for centuries to help regulate the body’s natural detoxification process.
This tea is perfect for those looking to lose some weight, cleanse their liver and improve their digestion – which are all possible benefits of drinking this tasty tea.
I have been using it myself for about a month now and so far am loving how much healthier my digestive system feels!
The taste is a bit strong in my opinion, with the earthy flavor coming from the budrock and the particular, spicy tingle from the ginger. To this one, I personally add a bit of honey to mellow out the flavors and make it more palatable. I definitely suggest giving it a try with honey if you find the taste too overwhelming at first.
Have in mind that this particular tea doesn’t come in teabags, so you will need a tea strainer for it.

3. Dandy Liver Detox Tea
Another tea that helps your fight against the fatty liver – and one that tastes really good too!
The tea comes in a box of 20 bags, each one being individually wrapped. The ingredients are organic – dandelion root, milk thistle, lemongrass leaf, plus a proprietary blend of the brand, which includes (lemon peel, peppermint, ginger and licorice among others).
You can easily tell simply from reading the ingredients that this one does taste really well! I am a big fan of the lemongrass flavor and I can say by far that this is my favorite in terms of taste.
Dandy Liver Detox Tea is said to be an effective way of cleansing your liver, boosting your energy and helping reverse NAFLD. Of course, nothing is guaranteed – as we’ve already discussed – but at the very least you’d be getting some really tasty tea to add some variety to your daily drinks.
The tea is caffeine-free, so it can be enjoyed at any time of the day or night. It also has a light sweet flavor, which I find very refreshing.
I would definitely recommend giving this one a try if you’re looking for an enjoyable detox tea with great ingredients!
4. Twinnings Green Tea
You can keep it simple by enjoying this tea made 100% from green tea leaves. And we’re talking about an amazing brand here (my all time favorite tea brand!) so you know that quality is guaranteed.
Green tea is considerate one of the healthiest drinks you can consume and it has been linked with a range of potential health benefits. Among these, is aiding in weight loss and liver detoxification. There are actual studies to support these claims, so we have all the good signs to use this tea.
Do have in mind that it contains caffeine, so if you are on a low caffeine diet, this might not be for you.
I personally enjoy it by itself – no sweeteners or anything added to it (can also try adding some fresh lemon juice for a nice twist). I like that the flavor is very soothing – I usually drink at least one cup each day after my morning coffee, followed by one other cup (usually the Dandy Liver one recommended above) in the evening.
How to drink these teas that help reverse fatty liver
While there is no recommended number of cups you should drink per day, I personally stick to two: one in the morning, one in the evening. But at the same time, just one per day or 3-4 cups would also be OK.
Don’t take them as meds or anything. These are simply teas that have been known to be helpful in the liver detoxification process, so you can enjoy them as a part of your healthy lifestyle.
Drinking tea won’t be enough to help heal your liver!
I do have to repeat the thing I said above: drinking teas alone are not enough to help you reverse your non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and heal your liver completely. You will still have to make lifestyle changes and follow a proper, healthy diet.
We can go as far as saying that actual, factual medical proof regarding the efficacies of these teas is still pending. But, this should not stop you from enjoying them in the meantime and seeing if they help improve your symptoms or not.
And remember: any tea is better than no tea when it comes to liver health! Even if they don’t have as many detox-capabilities as some claim they have, even a bit of extra help is useful.
As long as they don’t do any extra harm, I see no reason not to give them a try – at least this is how I approach things and it has worked for me so far, as I have reversed my fatty liver.
But I repeat: I am sure that the biggest role was played by me following my strict diet (link here) and starting to exercise and destress. Teas and other supplements have helped – maybe – but I wouldn’t go as far as saying that they’re the thing that helped me reverse my condition.
If you already enjoy drinking tea, though – or if you want to add some variety to the plain water you usually drink, why not use one (or more) of the recommendations above? They do taste good and even some of their claimed health benefits are better than nothing!
I was diagnosed with a fatty liver back in 2014 and managed to reverse it by mid 2015. Since then, I’ve been studying NAFLD and I have decided to share everything I have learned over the years to help you reverse your condition.
